Something in the Air

Hello everyone and welcome back to The Local Medias. It has been a while but I'm back. At the beginning of January, I had the privilege of visiting Airship Coffee while in Bentonville Arkansas.  Airship has two locations in Bentonville, one of them being on the Coler Mountain Bike Preserve. With the cool and unique motto, "Drink Coffee, Go Outside," having a coffee shop on a bike trail is very fitting and creative. I visited its location in the Arts District of Bentonville.       For starters, the building was really nice. With a lot of seating both inside and outside, a wall with all its merchandise, and good lighting, Airship's location was very welcoming and definitely worth the visit. Although there were so many menu items to choose from, I got the "lumberjack," an iced latte with maple syrup, vanilla, and smoked salt. With a very interesting lineup of ingredients I was excited to try it out, and boy was I happy I did.       Along with th...

Full Circle

Hello and welcome to the last The Local Medias post fully dedicated to Circle Coffee Co. Today there is no specific topic but more of just breaking down the things I have observed from Circle Coffee and its social media marketing. I hope you guys enjoy it, and there is a special surprise at the end. (Click here for the Circle Coffee Co. Instagram) https://www.instagram.com/circlecoffeeco/     So I have learned a lot about the ways of social media marketing during my time observing Circle Coffee Co. As everyone knows, social media is a very vital tool in the world of marketing and advertising nowadays, especially Circle. Circle does so much on its social media, from promoting its new menu items to making its mission statement public. One thing I have taken away from my observations has been the importance of supporting your community and customers.     Circle Coffee is always doing whatever it can for its customers. From reposting the customer's stories to having loca...

The Comfort of Coffee

What is up everyone and welcome back to my blog, The Local Medias. There are only two more posts dedicated to Circle Coffee including this one. Today's topic is a significant topic we don't always think about but Circle Coffee addressed it. That is the importance of being "cared for". I hope you enjoy it! (Click here for post) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkdlGaEux1_/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link     So to start off, Circle uses a very simple photo for this post with the words "Coffee tastes better when you are cared for." behind a picture of someone pouring some coffee. It's a very simple photo but within the caption of the post, Circle writes an excellent statement. To break it down, Circle talks about just how important it is to be cared for and treated with kindness and respect when you go into a coffee shop. And that is what Circles baristas strive to do.       Circle Coffee posting this really shows just how dedicated the company is to its customers....

Community Sourced Pt. 2

What is up all you lovely people! Welcome back once again to The Local Medias. As I said in the last post, today's blog topic is about another instance where Circle Coffee made a post supporting a local person. This evening I will discuss Circle Coffees' post thanking the newly founded Community Woodworking Co. (Click here for post) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChF27bkOLlO/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link     Community Woodworking Co., founded by David Vincent's brother Tim did a heck of a lot for the coffee shop. Almost every piece of wood was made by t he Community Woodworking team. Pieces include the long table in the middle of the building, the rack that holds Circle Coffee shirts and other items, and the long island in front of Circles window. Having community-sourced things in a local shop like this shows yet again just how invested Circle Coffee is in Topeka.      The post included some beautiful pictures of the making process of some of the wood pieces and so...

Community Sourced Pt 1.

Hello everyone and welcome back once again to The Local Medias. As I stated in the last blog post, these next two posts from Circle Coffee will be on the same "topic" just split into two different parts. This is because I think that both posts from Circle, while similar, deserve a separate conversation.     Today I will discuss Circle Coffee's post, thanking Nicole Conroy for the art piece she made for Circle Coffee and its new building. (Click here for post) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChIqSFCueZ1/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link      The unique thing about Nicole having made this art piece for Circle Coffee is that she is a "Topeka native". The art piece is actually two pieces, consisting of a vine with leaves spreading across both frames with a mixture of orange and white surrounding it. In the post, David Vincent is quoted saying that he told Nicole a few years ago "if I ever open a shop, your work is the first thing going on our walls". The photos in ...

Stating the Mission

What is up everyone, welcome back to The Local Medias! This is the sixth post of this blog. There will be only 4 more posts dedicated entirely to Circle Coffee Co. Today I will be discussing Circle Coffee's post stating its mission statement. (Click here for post) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChkakNqrxeZ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link      Within 7 photos, Circle shared with its community the things it stands for and strives to do as a business in Topeka. Here is what Circle said: "Our Mission is to bring excellence to our community through kindness and creativity. We believe Topeka is a place worth investing in. Hospitality matters. People deserve care and attention. Excellent products are worth the time and sacrifice. It's all worth it."     This is a very powerful mission statement. Circle really showed that its whole mission revolves around its community and the people they get to serve.  I think that it is a super smart tactic for Circle to post its missi...

Stories that Last a Lifetime

Hello and welcome back to The Local Medias. I know it has been a bit but today I am gonna be talking about one of my favorite things that Circle Coffee does on Instagram. Circle Coffee is very active with its social media and they do something unique very frequently. It is when Circle posts on its Instagram story.     Circle does this a lot and the main thing they post is reposting the stories of customers that tag Circle in their story. A popular thing to do is when you go to a coffee shop, you set up a photo of the coffee shop (generally with the coffee in the photo) and put it onto your Instagram story for people to see where you were today. A lot of the time, people, myself included, will tag the coffee shop in the story in the hopes that they will see it and repost it.       One thing that Circle Coffee does with its Instagram story is reposting those who tag them in their stories. I think this is an intelligent tactic. Circle is showing their communit...

Community Service

What is up all you coffee lovers, welcome back to The Local Medias. Earlier this week I discussed Circle Coffees posts covering its updated summer and fall menus. Today I'll be going over its Instagram reel announcing that Circle Coffee Co. is now "serving the neighborhood". (Click here for the Instagram reel) https://www.instagram.com/reel/CfbaZtaAdyp/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link     The reel starts off with someones unknown hand inserting a VHS tape into an old VHS tv that has a static screen. Once the VHS tape is inserted, the video switches to a montage of a bunch of photos. The photos show the timeline and huge growth of Circle Coffee Co. It starts off with photos of Circles coffee cart, the coffee cart traveling around a bunch of places, the start of Circles' new location, a bunch of community members during their soft opening, and then the start of its actual store. The montage ends and the reel cuts to the front door of Circle Coffees' new building. Jackie...

Refresh the Menu

Hey yall, and welcome back to The Local Medias. Last time I discussed Circle Coffee Co’s. “now hiring” post and how creative and just flat-out cool it was. Today I’ll be discussing Circle’s summer and fall menu updates.  (Click here for the Summer Menu post)  https://www.instagram.com/p/CfrCSvwO8N4/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link        When Circle updated its summer menu, it dropped three new drinks. An “untitled latte”, a “Hibiscus Berry Limeade”, and a “Nitro Cold Brew”. In the post, Circle included a picture of each new drink. Personally, I thought the new Limeade was the best out of the three drinks. There wasn't much to the summer update but the fall post makes up for it. (Click here for the Fall Menu post) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cih97kGOtJy/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link        The fall menu post starts off with an overhead photo of all 5 of the new menu items. Each of Circle's new items are made in the bakery. They added the glut...

Blasting Off

Hey guys and welcome back to The Local Medias. I'm so happy you returned to read and be a part of this blog. Today I will be dissecting and complementing one of my favorite posts from Circle Coffee. It is their post announcing that employee applications had officially opened up! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CdgKjmBgUCg/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link      The Instagram reel starts with one of Circle's owners, Jackie Vincent, walking into the frame wearing an astronaut costume and holding a Topo Chico bottle with a bottle rocket sticking out of it.  All the while, audio from the Apollo 11 mission plays at the start. Jackie proceeded to light the firework, sending it into the sky as Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater started to play. The reel then cuts to a screen saying "Join our Launch Team" & "Now Hiring".           Now I don't know about you guys but I haven't seen such a fun and creative way to announce to th...

New to the Neighborhood

Hello everyone and welcome to “The Local Medias”! A blog discussing the ins and outs of the social media posts of a local coffee shop and how they advertise themselves using said social media in a unique way. Social media has become a very popular tool used to promote a company or business. Local businesses always seem to have a different vibe and more personalized feeling. Especially when it comes to how they advertise themselves. Here, I will be discussing and analyzing one of my favorite local coffee shops in Topeka Kansas, Circle Coffee Co. Circle Coffee has also been very prominent on its Facebook and Instagram accounts. They post new menu items, updates, and share posts from customers who visit.  Advertisements of businesses, specifically local companies, always intrigue me and catch my attention. This blog has two main goals. One is to spread awareness of local businesses and their personalized social media. Local companies like Circle Coffee deserve to be seen and appreciat...
